The sea shore
inspires me. When I am at the beach, my mind tends to wander. Some days, the
thoughts roll in like the waves washing up on the sand. Other days, ideas are
like wispy clouds on the horizon, drifting along in blue skies.

went to the beach the other day. That is not an unusual occurrence. In fact, I
think I'll go later on this afternoon as well. Any day at the beach is special;
but some stand out more than others.
Stubbing My Toe
I went to the beach again the other day. Not an unusual event in and of itself.
I go to the beach every second or third day. What was unusual about this
particular visit was that I stumbled across a small tear in the fabric of
reality. Literally stumbled. Here is what happened; I'll leave it to you to
decide what it means and how to classify it.
It was a Saturday afternoon; just another day at the beach, this time for a pig
roast. It was a charity gig; a fundraiser for the Salybia Mission Project. 97%
of attendees were Ross Medical School Profs or students. The music is an
eclectic mix of Marley, Mariah and Matthews.
I met a man meandering along the shore. 'How far is it?' he wanted to know.
'Depends on where you are going', said I. 'Just wandering', he said. 'Then, you
are already there.' said I. 'To the end of the beach is what I meant. How far is
that?' he replied. 'About a mile,' I said, 'but you are headed the wrong way.'
Walking the Talk
Just about every morning, I go for a walk. One of my routes is down from our
house to the beach, then up to the top of the hill by the cell phone tower, then
back down to our house. It's about a 2 mile trip and a pretty good cardio

Once again I find myself at the beach, strolling at water's edge enjoying the
warm sand beneath my feet. As I am wont to do from time to time, I find myself
musing about the wonder of it all and Blake comes to mind. "To see the world in
a grain of sand"?
