We are fortunate to live on a beautiful planet that is filled with wonderful places and exciting things to do and enjoy. My Favorite Cities I have spent time in more than 250 different cities around the world. They are all unique and have their own culture and vibe. There is only the time and space to mention a few of my favorites. Rome, Italy is the eternal city. I love it because the people who live there really know how to enjoy life. It is the place of wine, women and song. Shopping is the best on the planet. The restaurants are beyond compare. The historical artifacts are inspirational. Hong Kong, China is as busy as an anthill. I find it ironic that the city that has the freest form of capitalist culture is part of the only country who still proudly calls itself communist. I was there in 1997 for the handover from British control. The party was totally awesome. Sidney, Australia is young and vibrant. Beautiful harbor, best New Year's fireworks of any city, Bars, beaches, pretty women, laid back attitude. What's not to like about it? Amsterdam, Netherlands I had an office here once. Coffee shops. Girls on bicycles. Canals. Tolerance. Sophistication. Freedom. Great airport. Toronto, Canada is a clean, safe, multi-cultural city. Good beaches, vibrant live music scene, live theatre that rivals New York and London; largest Caribbean carnival celebration in the world; fine restaurants, longest street in the world. Great RestaurantsRoy's Waikoloa Bar and Grill, Big Island, Hawaii Nepenthe, Big Sur, California, USA Felix, Hong Kong, China Centro Restaurant & Lounge, Toronto, Canada Cal Pep, Barcelona, Spain Museums Cathedrals may inspire some people to think about the sacred nature of human existence. For me, it is grand museums of the world that remind me of the spark of divinity that exists in the human creature. Here are a few for you to consider making pilgrimage to visit. The Metropolitan Museum in New York City seems damn near as big as NYC's Central Park. The Prado Museum in Madrid overwhelms the senses. The Vatican Museum in Rome justifies the existence of the Church of Rome. The entire city of Florence is a museum. Within this grand homage to art and history are several noteworthy places to visit. A week barely suffices. And, of course, there is the Tuscan food and wine. Awesome One Day Hikes Soufriere, St. Vincent & The Grenadines Main Trail, Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica Nihahi Ridge Trail, Kananaskis Park, Canada Last Segment of the Inca Trail (Aquas Calientes to Machu Picchu), Peru Go back to Leslie's Beach Bar for a cold beer and warm conversation. And remember to check out the Beach Shop and all the special Goodies I have for you.
